One of the most acclaimed of Kudelka's ballets, In Paradisum was choreographed in 1983 for Les Grands Ballets Canadiens to a commissioned score by Michael J. Baker. The ballet is in four movements representing the stages of an individual's confrontation with death: from shock and disbelief, to anger and isolation. Inspired by the writings of Elizabeth Kübler-Ross and the drawings of Kathe Kollowitz, Kudelka has created a work that is ultimately spectacular and moving.
